Biomedical Signal, Imaging, and Therapeutics Laboratory (BSIT), led by Dr. Myeongsu Seong, is a research laboratory in the Department of Mechatronics and Robotics, School of Advanced Technology, Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU). BSIT focuses on the development of hardware and software relevant to biomedical engineering systems that involve the use of optical, ultrasonic, mechatronic, and robotic systems, and applications of the developed systems in preclinical and clinical studies. We are interested in using artificial intelligence techniques for developing new signal processing methods as well.

BSIT welcomes highly-motivated researchers or students with various academic backgrounds. • A review article manuscript titled “Advances in electrospun nanofibers for biomedical engineering” that Dr. Seong participated as a co-corresponding author has been accepted by Fibers and Polymers on October 13, 2025.

• A research article manuscript titled “Hydrophobic radiative cooling using zein-functionalized polyvinyl alcohol nanofibers with dielectric nanoparticles” that Dr. Seong participated as a co-author has been published in Small on September 24, 2025.

• Jingxuan Qian, Haoran Xu, Junhe Liu, Ruiyu Wu, Xingyu Chen, and Haobo Zhang work with Dr. Seong for their bachelor’s final year projects (FYP) from September 10, 2025. Welcome all!

• Dr. Seong gave an invited talk about photoacoustic microscopy for through-skin stent imaging at Bio-Nanophotonics System Laboratory, Department of Biomedical Engineering, Yonsei University, Korea, on August 26, 2025.

• A review article manuscript titled “Optical Assessment of Genital Changes Associated with Female Sexual Arousal: A Mini-Review” that Dr. Seong participated as a co-corresponding author has been accepted for publication by Sexual Medicine on August 10, 2025.
