Brief Introduction

Biomedical Signal, Imaging, and Therapeutics Laboratory (BSIT), led by Dr. Myeongsu Seong, is a research laboratory in the Department of Mechatronics and Robotics, School of Advanced Technology, Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU). BSIT focuses on the development of hardware and software relevant to biomedical engineering systems that involve the use of optical, ultrasonic, mechatronic, and robotic systems, and applications of the developed systems in preclinical and clinical studies. We are interested in using artificial intelligence techniques for developing new signal processing methods as well.

BSIT welcomes highly-motivated researchers or students with various academic backgrounds. If you are interested in joining the laboratory or want to understand research works in the laboratory, please contact Dr. Seong through email (myeongsu.seong__at__xjtlu.edu.cn).   • A research article manuscript titled “Thermal protection of wearable devices under outdoor conditions using radiative cooling films” that Dr. Seong participated as a co-author has been accepted for publication by Optical Materials on June 19, 2025.

  • A research article manuscript titled “Photoacoustic microscopy for visualization of stents in multiple scenarios” that Dr. Seong participated as a co-corresponding author has been accepted for publication by Optics Letters on June 17, 2025.

  • Junhe Liu, Yihai Hu, Mingjian Jia, and Zibo Ji participate in the summer undergraduate research fellowship (SURF) suggested by Dr. Seong in summer 2025. Welcome all!

  • Dr. Seong will give an invited talk about biomedical engineering for Korean high school students in Shanghai on May 23, 2025 and an invited talk entitled “A brief introduction to optical tools for biomedical engineering researches (tentative)” at the 2025 Spring Conference of Korean Scientists and Engineers Association in China on May 24, 2025.

  • A research article manuscript titled “Estimating PM2.5 exposures and cardiovascular disease risks in the Yangtze River Delta region using a spatiotemporal convolutional approach to fill satellite data gaps” that Dr. Seong participated as a co-author has been accepted for publication by Toxics on May 12, 2025.
